Gabrielle's previous book, Unstill Life: A Daughter’s Memoir of Art and Love in the Age of Abstraction, chronicled Gabrielle’s life growing up in the art world. Her father was the esteemed art historian, curator and museum director, Peter Selz. UnStill Life received the best memoir of the year award from the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and was chosen as one of the best books of the year by both the San Francisco Chronicle and Berkeleyside. Gabrielle has enriched the academic world with her expertise, serving as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Saint Mary's College of California from 2017 to 2018, and as a Writing Instructor at the Abroad Writer's Conference in Dublin, Ireland from 2015 to 2016.
